The newly appointed Western Regional Fire Service Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Class One (ACFO I) Cecil Addo, has paid a courtesy call on the 2 Garrison Commander and Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, at the Base Headquarters in Takoradi.

The visit formed part of ACFO I Addo's familiarisation tour of key security institutions in the Western Region following his appointment as the Regional Fire Service Commander. It also provided an opportunity for him to introduce himself formally and discuss areas of mutual cooperation.

The Base Commander, welcoming the new Fire Chief, congratulated him on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the Service in the region. He emphasised the importance of collaboration among security agencies in addressing emergencies and safeguarding lives and property.

The Base Commander noted that Air Force Base Takoradi and the Ghana National Fire Service shared a common responsibility in ensuring safety and emergency preparedness, particularly within critical national installations. He added that the Base remained committed to supporting the Fire Service whenever the need arises.

He further highlighted the importance of continuous engagement between the two institutions through training programmes, emergency response exercises and fire safety sensitisation activities. Such collaborations, he said, would strengthen operational readiness and improve emergency response capabilities.

On his part, ACFO I Cecil Addo expressed appreciation to the Base Commander for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a strong working relationship between the Western Regional Fire Service and Air Force Base Takoradi.

He noted that effective partnerships among security and emergency response agencies were crucial in mitigating risks and responding promptly to emergencies. He added that his administration would prioritise collaboration and information sharing to enhance public safety and emergency management in the region.

The Regional Fire Service Commander also commended the Ghana Air Force for its role in national security and assured the Base Commander of the Fire Service's readiness to work closely with the Base on matters relating to fire prevention, emergency response, and disaster management.
