SQUADRON COMMANDERS COURSE CONCLUDES IN TAMALE

The Air Force Training Command (AFTRAC) on Friday 30 August 2024 marked the successful conclusion of its inaugural Squadron Commanders Course 1/2024 with a closing ceremony held at the Air Force Leadership Academy premises in Tamale.

 

Designed to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of participating Officers, the Course focused on consolidating their understanding of minor staff work and air operations within the Ghana Air Force.

 

 

The four-week intensive training programme saw the participation of 14 officers, including two from the Ghana Army. It aimed to provide core competency training specific to the Service, orientation in minor staff duties, and prepare officers for future staff and leadership roles.

 

 



Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Commander AFTRAC, Wing Commander Kwame Alifo, the in-coming acting Director Policy at the Air Force Headquarters and Chief Facilitator stated that the closing ceremony was a culmination of the participants' hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment to becoming the leaders that the Ghana Air Force needs. He acknowledged that while the journey had been challenging, the knowledge imparted by the facilitators had been invaluable.

 

 

He further emphasised that the various discussions, exercises and case studies conducted during the course had significantly enhanced the participants' decision-making abilities and reinforced the importance of leading with integrity and vision.

 

 

 

Wing Commander Alifo expressed confidence that the Officers were-prepared to tackle the challenges of Command and lead with honor and distinction in their future roles. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe for prioritising the training of personnel.

 

 

Giving the course report, the Facilitator and Commanding Officer of the Engineering Wing of the Air Force Base Takoradi, Wing Commander Brimpong noted that this was a historic moment. He highlighted the  achievements of the course and said the objectives had been met.

 

Wing Commander Brimpong  stated  that the Squadron Commanders Course was relevant in consolidating  Officers’ career and capacity development in line with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff.

 

He also appreciated the Base Commander, Air Commodore Joshua Lartei Mensah – Larkai, the Commander AFTRAC, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah and all the supporting staff for their immeasurable support over the period.

 

 

Wing Commander Brimpong advised the Officers to continue to put their knowledge, skills and ideas together to strengthen and fly high the flag of the Ghana Air Force.

 

To enhance teaching and learning in the lecture halls, the Course donated a water dispenser, 2 gallons of water and a wall clock to the Command. They also expressed their profound gratitude for the all rounded training they had received.
