Students of the Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHFAC), Safety and Surface Engineering Course 17 took their learning beyond the classroom on Friday 14 March 2025, when they embarked on a study tour to Coral Paints at Adabraka, Accra.
The visit, a key part of their semester curriculum, aimed to provide firsthand knowledge of surface painting techniques and quality surface engineering in aviation.
During their interaction, Coral Paints' Business Development Manager, Mr Luiz Carlos Da Silva and Technical Sales Personnel, Mr Jonah Charwetey highlighted essential factors that contribute to a good paint job. They emphasized the importance of a structured paint system, which includes surface preparation, primer application, undercoating and top coating.
The students were not only given theoretical insights but also engaged in practical sessions to better understand the application processes.
At the end of the study tour, the students expressed enthusiasm about the experience describing it as both insightful and beneficial to their field of work.
